No more clashes: plan the schedule with your festival crew

Two favourite bands at the same time, four friends who all want different things. Here's how to put together a schedule everyone's happy with.

Anyone who’s been to a big festival knows the feeling: the running order drops and two of your absolute favourites are playing at the same time on opposite sides of the site. And your friends want to see completely different bands. That’s exactly the problem we wanted to solve when we built Festivalmate.

1. Pick your favourites before the schedule is out

Mark the bands you want to see as soon as the lineup is announced. When the times are released, you’ll see right away which ones clash – instead of finding out in front of the wrong stage.

2. Decide on the clashes in advance

A clash is rarely a perfect 50/50. Ask yourself: which band won’t I get to see again for a long time? Which set is shorter? Can I catch half of each? Deciding at home on the sofa is much easier than in the crowd at 11 pm.

3. See what the rest of the crew picks

In Festivalmate you can see which bands your friends have added to their schedules. That way you know when you can go together – and when it’s fine to split up and meet at an agreed spot afterwards.

4. Agree on a meeting point

Mobile coverage at festivals is often poor when everyone tries to send messages at once. A fixed meeting point – the same one every night – saves a lot of stress.

5. Leave gaps

A schedule without breaks rarely holds up. Leave time for food, rest and discovering a band you’ve never heard of. That’s often where the best memories come from.
