10 things you’ll forget to pack for the festival

You'll remember the tent and the ticket. It's the little things that ruin a festival weekend – here are the ones we've forgotten far too many times.

Everyone packs the tent, the sleeping bag and the ticket. It’s the little things that make the difference between a great weekend and one you mostly remember as wet and tired. We learned this list the hard way.

  1. Earplugs. Proper ones, with filters. Three gigs in a row without protection is something you’ll notice for weeks.
  2. A power bank – and a spare cable. Your phone is your ticket, your map and your schedule. The cable is the first thing to disappear.
  3. Toilet paper and wet wipes. You’ll understand why late on Saturday.
  4. Plasters and blister plasters. New boots plus four days on the fields is a classic combination.
  5. A rain poncho. Light, cheap and more useful than a jacket when the showers hit in the middle of a set.
  6. Sunscreen and a cap. Yes, the same weekend as the rain. That’s festival summer for you.
  7. Extra socks. Dry socks are the greatest luxury there is at a campsite.
  8. A head torch. Hunting for your tent in the dark with your phone’s flashlight gets old fast.
  9. Cash. Most places take cards, but not always the food truck or the neighbour selling ice.
  10. Tape and cable ties. They fix the tent, the pole, your shoes and sometimes the whole day.

Share the list with your crew

Festivalmate has a shared packing list for the whole crew. Someone brings the tent, someone brings the camping stove, and everyone can see what’s already sorted – so you don’t end up with three stoves and no tent pegs.
