Reading and Leeds are twin festivals in England held on the same weekend in late August, with largely the same artists at both. Reading has its roots in the 1960s and 70s and is one of the world’s oldest popular music festivals; Leeds was added in 1999.
The festivals have moved from rock and indie to a broader line-up of pop, hip hop and electronic music, and for many British teenagers they are the big festival weekend of the summer.
