Inferno Metal Festival 2027 keeps growing, with five new artists now confirmed for the Oslo festival. The announcement spans everything from British extreme metal history and Finnish grindcore to melodic black metal and brand-new Norwegian names.

Carcass return after ten years

Carcass formed in 1986 and are true pioneers of extreme metal. Their debut «Reek of Putrefaction» (1988) became a defining record for grindcore and goregrind, and with «Heartwork» (1993) they became leaders within melodic death metal. Carcass were also among the first pure death metal bands to sign with a major label, joining Columbia Records. When they return to Inferno in 2027, it will be exactly ten years since their last appearance there.

Grindcore, black metal and new Norwegian names

Finland’s Rotten Sound have delivered raw, intense grindcore since forming in Vaasa in 1993. This will be their first Norwegian show in fourteen years. Bergen’s Sworn, active for more than twenty years, play Inferno for the very first time, bringing their new album «Null Crowned the Infinite».

Nedgravd are a new Norwegian death metal band with members aged 17 to 21, who released their debut album «Ascension» earlier this year. Myrvandrer, playing ambient post-black metal from the forests of Hedmark, have so far existed as a solo project but are now assembling a full band for their live debut – which happens at Inferno 2027.
